The Environmental Studies & Sciences Program at Rhodes College offers an innovative curriculum that allows students to combine study in social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and fine arts. The program encourages a personalized combination of interdisciplinary coursework and a sustained examination of global and local contexts environmental issues from many perspectives.
This short film titled “Green Rhodes” discusses student efforts to combat climate change and encourage environmental sustainability at Rhodes. Highlights include the Rhodes College Bike Shop and student recycling crew as well as other Environmental Planning Cooperative programs. It also features an introduction by President William E. Troutt.
Sophie Osella '14 and Becca Martin '15 created the video in collaboration with Professor Kimberly Kasper in her Ecological Anthropology course. The short film won first place in a competition sponsored by the Associated Colleges of the South, a consortium of 16 liberal arts colleges.
