Pay rate: 8.25 - 8.85

General Description of Position:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising, the HPA Student Employee supports department’s mission of serving pre-health students by supporting HPA’s environment of support and opportunity through advising, programming and campus and community partnerships. The HPA student employee may be asked to provide support in the following areas:

  • Develop and manage content for the HPA social media channels, specifically the HPA Instagram account
  • Develop and manage content for the HPA bi-weekly newsletter
  • Provide support for the Spring MCAT Prep course, which will involve frequent evening hours during the spring semester as student will be responsible for set-up and breakdown of room for course
  • Research national trends and data relevant to health professions advising
  • Updating HPA bookshelf in library and HPA bulletin boards in the Education Building and the Frazier Jelke Science Building
  • Assist with all program-related events (event planning, set-up, on-site registration)
  • General office responsibilities, including data entry, copying, filing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Continuing student at Rhodes College
  • Seeking to pursue a career in health professions
  • Able to work 7-10 hours per week, with flexibility to work during the evenings and on weekends
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Seeking to pursue a career in health professions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with various social media platforms
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects and deadlines; solution oriented
  • Administrative or customer service experience

 

Physical Demands:

  • General mobility around campus, navigating stairs and elevators occasionally
  • May deliver materials around campus using a dolly or a cart for HPA programming and events
  • May need to lift heavy boxes for HPA programming and events
