General Description of Position: 

Responsibilities for this position include providing clerical support for the Lynne & Henry Turley Memphis Center. The student will provide assistance to Center staff, including: receptionist duties, including greeting visitors, answering inquiries and handling incoming and outgoing communications; assistance on student and faculty fellowship projects; create and manage spreadsheets and other documents; assist with program purchases and travel arrangements; assist in set up for Center events; and assist in the development and maintenance of a webpage and other social-media outlets for Turley Memphis Center programs. The students will be under the supervision of the Turley Memphis Center’s Program Coordinator and the Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to work with a team and interact well with others; Ability to manage time and coordinate projects. Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs, as well as competence in copying, scanning and creating PDFs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability and willingness to develop a webpage and other digital media material (training will be available). Ability or willingness to learn how to work with Adobe software (pagemaker, acrobat, etc.)

Physical Demands:

The job requires very little manual labor. Occasionally, the student will be asked to move computer equipment, chairs, and/or a projector screen. Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 20lbs over short distances. Requires extended periods of sitting. The 2nd floor of West Campus is accessible by stairs or elevators.
