General Description of Position:

This position requires a student to work 12-15 hours per week on identifying, creating, supporting, facilitating, and assessing interfaith programs for students in all class years. “Interfaith” in this context means involving people from 2 or more different belief systems (for example, a dinner for Muslims and Jewish people, a service activity for Wiccans and secular humanists, or a book club for Christians and Buddhists). Programs are crafted to encourage interfaith engagement forour student body and may include game nights, meals, educational opportunities, team/trust building exercises, movie nights, service activities, and more. Role may also include relationship building, listening campaigns, booking space, exploring potentialspeakers/facilitators to come to campus, creating marketing materials. Position willrequire students to work some non-traditional hours when hosting events duringeveningsand weekends, though the bulk of the time will be during tradition business hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Event planning experience

Organizational skills

Spiritual maturity (meaning the student has spent time discerning what they believe, be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Wicca, Hinduism, Buddhism, secular humanism, atheism, or any other tradition)

Ability to connect with students, staff/faculty, and professionals

Ability to form relationships with people from belief traditions different than your own for the purpose of friendship (not for the purpose of conversion)

Diplomacy/the ability to help people find the positive traits in one another
