Information Services: Instructional Technology Research Analyst

General Description of Position: Specific student associate responsibilities, job requirements, and as much information regarding the scope of the job as you can provide.

 

The primary responsibility of the ITT RSA is leading the student research team in evaluating classrooms on campus, assessing our current learning management system (Canvas), interviewing students and faculty on their needs for teaching and learning including classroom spaces, labs, software, and hardware.

The Rhodes College Vision Statement has four points, and the first three are guiding principles for the work of the instructional technology team: Student Access, Student Learning, and Student Engagement.  The Instructional Technology Team works directly with faculty and students to create an equitable learning experience for students at Rhodes.  This RSA position will use semi-structured interviews to collect qualitative and quantitative data on instructors’ and students’ use of classroom spaces and Canvas.  These data directly inform decisions for prioritizing classroom renovations and upgrades. The ITT team now works directly with Provost Moreland and the assistant deans to make sure classroom spaces are in alignment with current teaching needs and practices at Rhodes.  This RSA will lead the ITT student research team in researching our current learning management system, Canvas.  The ITT team conducts interviews and performs research and literature reviews to assess how we might better address teaching and learning needs through our LMS. 

Instructional Technology Research Analyst responsibilities include:
           
•           Leading a team of 4 students to learn more about teaching and technology
•           Developing requirements and templates for new projects
•           Reading and researching independently and then report findings in writing
•           Working a mixture of scheduled hours and independent time (good time management skills)
•           Possessing curiosity and willingness to learn
•           Possessing attention to detail when writing reports and doing research


Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated organizational, teamwork and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Office software
  • Familiarity with Box and file management
  • Willingness to lead a team of peers

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with learning management systems like Canvas
  • Experience with Zotero citation management software
  • Ability to conduct academic research using databases and Google Scholar
