Job Description

Students awarded a position in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures will have the opportunity to learn office skills while working in a very diverse, multilingual atmosphere. Basic duties include but are not limited to: copying, scanning, library acquisitions, sorting of department mail deliveries, assisting with promotion of events (i.e. helping to create and distribute flyers, spreadsheets and other documents), maintaining department spaces, and various special projects. Assistants must maintain a professional level of service to all faculty members and office visitors. This position also supports the Ancient Mediterranean Studies department.

Required Education

Continuing student at Rhodes College.

Required Qualifications Must be available to work Monday thru Friday from 9am – 4pm. Must be proficient in the basics of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work alone with little or no supervision and follow directions closely. Previous work experience on campus as office assistant is highly desirable. Computer/technology skills beyond the basic are desirable.
Preferred Qualifications

MLL prefers applicants interested in modern languages.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stoop; reach and lift up to 30 lbs.; potentially long periods of sitting as most work will be done at a computer.
