General Description of Position:

This proposal is for an associate within Academic & Learning Resources. This position adds a level to the peer academic coaching program, helps with awareness for academic support programs and planning ALR events/programs.

He or she will help manage the peer coaching website and help coordinate coaching via the website form. This student will help with peer coach training by coordinating speakers and facilitating some trainings. The RSA will also help with marketing for academic support/peer coach events and event planning. Lastly, the senior peer coach/peer coach coordinator will help with the assessment of academic support/peer coach programs. 

  • Edit and update the academic support/peer coach website on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate speakers and spring peer coach training sessions
  • Facilitate various peer coach training sessions
  • Coordinate survey and/or focus groups as needed
  • Coordinate details for differing peer coach events
  • Coordinate student outreach for peer coaches
  • Develop marketing campaigns for the peer coach and academic support programs
  • Develop academic workshops with ALR staff as needed
  • Assist with peer coaching if needed

Applicant Requirements

  • The successful candidate would need to have previously been a peer coach and gone through all trainings.  
  • The successful candidate would have a passion for academically supporting others and developing ways to educate students.
  • The candidate should be a creative thinker and possess an interest or willingness to learn marketing techniques.
  • Student should possess a passion for helping others develop as peer coaches and as successful college students.
  • The candidate would be able to make independent decisions based on the directives of the supervisor.
  • The candidate would be able to communicate well in writing.
  • Candidate should be good with details and organization.

Physical Demands: Candidate will be required to assist with setting up event room locations, lifting and moving objects (at times these object may be heavy); sit/stand for long periods of time, work on computers; set up computers/projectors for peer coaching events. Candidates should inform hiring office if any accommodations are needed.
