Olivia DiLillo
Olivia DiLillo is a senior Psychology and Media Studies (Production) double major, and Music minor. She believes community-engaged research is extremely important and is passionate about helping improve the mental health of young people, from both the level of the individual and in wider contexts. She hopes to continue this kind of work through a post-graduate degree in clinical psychology, while focusing on health equity through similar types of research as the SuRGE lab. In her free time she likes to play music and walk Barkus the dog.
Kathryn Dressel
Kathryn Dressel is a senior psychology major and a health equity and anthropology/sociology double minor from Lafayette Louisiana. Her previous research experience includes working as a research assistant and intervention leader for Dr. Khan in the Summer Success program which is geared towards preparing children with the academic and motor skills necessary for kindergarten through narrative story sharing groups. This is her first year within Dr. Hasselle’s lab, but she previously worked with Dr. Hasselle her Advanced Research Methods class. Kathryn is hoping to pursue a career in clinical psychology and is grateful for the opportunity to work with Dr. Hasselle to research DBT and SEL interventions. In her free time Kathryn enjoys participating in theatre with the Rhodes Theatre Guild which she has been the president of for the past two years. Kathryn also enjoys analyzing book versus movie adaptations with her friends and touring local coffee spots to find the best drinks.
Adrian Garcia
Adrian Garcia is a junior at Rhodes College majoring in Business and Neuroscience. He is deeply committed to supporting families and individuals through mental health care. With interests in pursuing a post-graduate degree in clinical psychology, particularly with the hopes of pursuing a specialization in trauma therapy or marriage counseling, his interests align well with the SuRGE lab's mission to improve health equity for students in and around Memphis. Adrian is eager to contribute to expanding access to quality mental health programs and care, especially for youth and families who have experienced adversity.
Mark Hastings
Mark is a Rhodes College senior originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. Mark has done research in the Social Psychology department at Rhodes with Dr. Matthew Weeks, where he developed projects regarding the psychology of religion, morality, and ensemble perception. Mark intends to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology after completing his undergraduate at Rhodes. He is interested in pursuing the research area of suicide prevention and the intersectionality of culture in relation to suicide for post-graduate study. In his free time, Mark enjoys playing the drums and reading.
Ava Janczak
Ava Janczak is a Rhodes College senior majoring in Psychology and Media Studies with a concentration in Film. Wanting to do research abroad post-graduation, she is interested in how different racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds help shape development, specifically through education. Ava is dedicated to helping her community by applying psychological practices to education and working hands-on at schools, wellness centers, and daycares. She is very fortunate to work for the Surge Lab with Dr. Hasselle on the community outreach team and is excited to help others.
Anya Lensink
Anya is a senior at Rhodes College, originally from Denver, Colorado. Her research experience includes social psychology research with Dr. Weeks, and she has previously completed Advanced Research Methods with Dr. Hasselle. She currently conducts research at St. Jude, focusing on sickle cell disease and neurocognitive outcomes. Anya hopes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano and walking her dog.
Evan Meek
Evan Meek is a senior at Rhodes College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. He is working his second year in Dr. Hasselles's lab and is on the meta-analysis team with three other Rhodes psychology students. He is interested in Clinical and Forensic Psychology and plans to attend graduate school next year to get his PhD. In his free time, he enjoys watching football and lifting weights.
Jules Sellers
Julianne Sellers is a junior at Rhodes College, majoring in Psychology and Educational Policy. With a strong interest in the intersection of mental health and education, she is passionate about exploring how evidence-based interventions can improve student well-being and emotional regulation. Julianne is dedicated to applying psychological research to influence educational policy and create more supportive learning environments.
