General Description of Position:
Content writers bring topic ideas and from the student perspective that could become content—articles or videos—that the college will use to inform audiences and market experiences on its website, social media channels, and in the media.
Students will gain experience in web and print writing, content development, and production—all skills that will translate into any type of communications career, as well as a variety of other career tracks.
Responsibilities
- Meet with editorial team once a week to discuss stories and schedule
- Write articles for the web and/or print marketing materials, spotlighting student opportunities and achievements
- Support communications staff with photo/video capture and production
- General office duties
- Proofreading and copyediting
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Familiarity with both PC and Mac platforms
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and other writing software
- Experience or a willingness to conduct interviews for publication.
- Candidate should be able to work adequate hours (minimum 12 per week) in the Office of Communications and think and act independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Video and photography experience a plus, but not required.
- Previous non-academic writing experience
- Interest in promoting the college and assisting in recruiting prospective students
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods
- Some walking, sitting, standing required
