Position Overview:
The Health Professions Advising (HPA) office seeks a motivated student to serve as a Resource Support Assistant (RSA). This position plays a vital role in supporting over 500 students annually, including 65–100 applicants to medical and dental schools. The RSA will assist with application support, communications, event coordination, mentoring programs, and data tracking to enhance student success and office efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

Application Cycle Support

  • Develop a Canvas course for application resources annually
  • Organize and submit medical and dental school recommendation packets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions

Communications & Outreach

  • Create and distribute weekly/monthly newsletters and promotional materials
  • Manage the texting system for event reminders and updates
  • Respond to general inquiries via the HPA email account
  • Coordinate student lounge bookings
  • Plan and assist at HPA events (workshops, mentoring sessions, info sessions)

Mentorship Program Support

  • Create and analyze survey data
  • Coordinate logistics and pairing for the Ambassador and Applicant Mentoring Programs
  • Track participation and support mentor-mentee engagement

Educational Outreach

  • Promote HPA services, scheduling tools, and Box resources
  • Help students access advising materials and upcoming events

Data Tracking & Engagement Analysis

  • Track advising appointments, program attendance, and Box folder usage
  • Assist in identifying gaps in student engagement for targeted outreach

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities
  • Comfortable with digital platforms (Box, Canvas, application portals)
  • Ability to collect and interpret basic data
  • Interest or experience in event planning and coordination
  • Friendly and approachable with a customer service mindset
