Job Description

The Rhodes College Human Resources Office supports our faculty and staff members during their time as an employee with the College. This position is responsible for providing customer service to our clients and supporting the Human Resources staff members with various projects throughout the school year. Students will gain experience working in an office environment and will learn a basic overview of human resources management.


Responsibilities

  • Work with sensitive data while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • Perform candidate reference checks and make hiring recommendations
  • Create and submit job postings on external job boards
  • Troubleshoot and assist new hires with onboarding and candidates with submitting applications
  • Coordinate and set up for new hire orientation; prepare and send communications to new employees and managers
  • Provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external clients via answering phones, greeting visitors, and answering emails
  • Track & manage inventory
  • Support HR staff with data entry and special projects as needed

Schedule

Flexible, must be during regular business hours (Monday–Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM). No more than 12 hours per week. This position does not require any nights or weekend shifts.

  • Must be detail oriented ensuring a high level of accuracy
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must be willing to learn new skills
  • Must be able to exercise discretion in an environment dealing with confidential or sensitive information
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in a professional office environment preferred
