Summer Employment - ACCESS Student Assistant

Description:  

The ACCESS Student Assistant supports the Office of Student Transitions in preparing for and implementing the ACCESS Mentorship Program during the summer months. This role focuses on assisting with ACCESS mentor training and the ACCESS orientation experience for incoming students.

Working under the supervision of the Program Assistant, the ACCESS Student Assistant provides logistical, administrative, and program support to help ensure a smooth and engaging transition experience. This role plays an important part in preparing ACCESS mentors and supporting incoming students as they begin to build connection and community at Rhodes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and preparing of ACCESS mentor training, including materials, schedules, and logistics 
  • Support the coordination and implementation of the ACCESS Mentorship Program, including orientation, mentor-mentee matching, communication, and logistics 
  • Provide on-site support during ACCESS training and orientation, including setup and troubleshooting 
  • Support general administrative tasks, including data entry and program organization 
  • Communicate key information to incoming students, mentors, and campus partners 
  • Collaborate with ACCESS Mentors and campus partners to create a welcoming and engaging transition experience 
  • Assist answering phone calls and responding to email inquiries from incoming students and their parents 

 

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and follow through on assignments 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to support peers 
  • Ability to complete administrative and logistical tasks with accuracy 
  • Interest in student transitions, mentorship, and community building 
  • Reliability, professionalism, and accountability 
  • At least one year of experience as an ACCESS Mentor is preferred
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA required
  • Experience with project coordination, organization, and development
  • Work 20 – 35 hours in the summer, with hours set and approved by the Office of Student Transitions

Logistics and Pay: 

  • You will clock in and out in Workday. The rate of pay is $10.25, before taxes.
