Summer Employment - Health Professions Advising

Supervisor: April Vincent (vincenta@rhodes.edu) General Description of Position: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising, the HPA Student Employee supports the department’s mission of serving pre-health students through advising, programming, and campus and community partnerships. The HPA student employee may be asked to provide support in the following areas: • Research national trends and data relevant to health professions advising. • Represent HPA at the Academic Lynx HPA session as needed. • Support the evaluation letter packet process for pre-medical and pre-dental students by assisting with Excel data entry and our Applicant Canvas course. • Editing and creation of content for the HPA office microsite. • Assist with the research and creation of resources for pre-health students. • General office responsibilities, including data entry, copying, and filing. • Assist with other data-related projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications: • Continuing student at Rhodes College. • Able to work 10 hours per week between the hours of 9:00 am-5:00 pm M-F. • Ability to work independently and with supervision. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, PPT, and Excel. Preferred Qualifications: • Seeking to pursue a career in health professions. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Experience working with various social media platforms. • Experience using CANVA to create flyers. • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to work independently, manage projects and deadlines; solution-oriented. • Administrative or customer service experience. Physical Demands: • May deliver materials around campus using a dolly or a cart for HPA programming. • May need to lift boxes for HPA programming. • May need to stand for prolonged periods of time at events.
