Summer Employment - Health Professions Advising

General Description of Position:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Health Professions Advising, the HPA Student Employee supports the department’s mission of serving pre-health students through advising, programming and campus and community partnerships. The HPA student employee may be asked to provide support in the following areas:

  • Provide support for the Medical Health Humanities Institute programming throughout June and July.
  • Research national trends and data relevant to health professions advising.
  • Represent HPA at Open Rhodes events as needed.
  • Compile and edit evaluation letter packets for pre-medical and pre-dental students.
  • General office responsibilities, including data entry, copying, and filing.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Continuing student at Rhodes College.
  • Seeking to pursue a career in health professions.
  • Able to work 10 hours per week between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm M-F, with flexibility to work during the evenings if needed.
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.

  • Seeking to pursue a career in health professions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with various social media platforms
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage projects and deadlines; solution-oriented
  • Administrative or customer service experience 

 

Physical Demands:

  • May deliver materials around campus using a dolly or a cart for HPA programming and events.
  • May need to lift boxes for HPA programming and events.
