Statement of Policies and Procedures in Regard to the Achieving College and Career Excellence through Support and Solidarity Mentor Program

Mission: Our mission is to support Rhodes College students in overcoming educational barriers through mentorship, academic support, and career guidance.

Vision: To create a supportive and inclusive community where every student can achieve their full potential.

 

Mentee Programming Focus

Fall: Emphasis: Transition to college, building community, accessing resources

  • Fall: Voices Unfiltered – Conversations on Access & Educational Journeys
  • Spring: Resource Navigation, Study Abroad/Internship Exploration

Spring: Emphasis: Academic progress, identity exploration, professional planning

  • Resume & LinkedIn Workshop
  • Sophomore Retreat – Finding Purpose, Major/Minor Exploration

Mentor Programming Focus

Fall Emphasis: Graduate school and internship readiness, leadership

  • Advanced Skills & Career Development Workshop
  • Graduate School Prep & Internship Strategy

Spring Emphasis: Workforce transition, financial literacy, mentorship

  • Life 201 Workshop – Budgeting and Financial Planning
  • Post-Grad Planning, Senior Presentations & Celebration

ACCESS Mentors Leadership Model

  • RSA – Leads program, mentors, and events; main liaison to program director
  • Vice Chair – Manages logistics, surveys, and event preparation
  • Communications Manager – Manages social media, event promotion, and outreach
  • Secretary – Documents meetings, oversees purchases, represents program on Title IX Board
  • Mentee Representative (4)– Advocates for mentee experience, attends leadership meetings

Program Participation Expectations

  • Attend Orientation & Fall Retreat
  • Attend at least 60% of program meetings annually
  • Participate in mentor/mentee check-ins each semester
  • Fulfill annual cohort-specific engagement (e.g., MLK Day, Conference Planning, Senior Presentation)
  • Maintain academic standing and uphold community expectations

Dismissal Policy

Participants may be dismissed for:

  • Failing to meet academic or participation requirements
  • Violating campus community standards
  • Neglecting mentorship responsibilities or missing cohort/community engagements
