Miner's videos are deeply personal, eminently relatable, and at times, uncomfortable. With a keen eye for the revelatory moments that hide in the mundane, Miner coaxes gestures, songs, stories, and landscapes into tautly constructed meditations. For "The Gospel According to a Young American," Miner has selected a range of videos that span his career thus far, allowing the viewer to trace his development in dealing with a set of common themes—life and death, relationships, and faith prominent among them.
Miner has an M.F.A. from Yale University School of Art and a B.A. from the University of Tennessee. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New Museum in New York, and at Tate Britain in London, among other institutions.
