Resources for Tenure-Track Faculty
Tenure-track faculty are reviewed every year in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. 1st-year, 2nd-year, 4th-year, and tenure reviews are conducted by the Office of Academic Affairs, with the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Promotion making a recommendation for all tenure reviews. 3rd-year and 5th-year faculty are evaluated at the department/program level.
Section IX of the Faculty Handbook outlines the processes and procedures to be followed. Learn more about the roles, responsibilities, and deadlines associated with each type of review that occurs beyond the department/program:
Resources for Term Appointment Faculty
Faculty on term appointments are evaluated in the areas of teaching and service. Term appointment faculty at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor are reviewed every three years. After three successful term reviews, term appointment faculty are eligible to apply for Associate Professor without Tenure; the Faculty Committee on Tenure and Promotion makes a recommendation for that review. Term faculty who have attained the rank of Associate Professor without Tenure are reviewed every six years.
