We are proud to say that no one earns a major in Educational Studies at Rhodes College who hasn't had experience in a public school classroom. The clinical field experience is where the theory of the college classroom meets the practice of K-12 instruction. Clinical experience serves as a corequisite to many of our instructional and research methods-based educational courses.
Fingerprinting
All students enrolling in a clinical field experience must first be fingerprinted by TBI. This must be done once a year. See more information here.
Enrolling
If you are enrolling in a course that required clinical field experience (EDUC 360) as a corequisite or enrolling in EDUC 499 Clinical Student Teaching, please complete this form during registration. This information will be used by the Teacher Licensure Coordinator to find a placement for you in a public school classroom in one of our partnering districts.
If you are enrolling in EDUC 360 Clinical Field Experience, you also need to request an override via Workday to enroll in the course. Here are the instructions:
- In Workday on the left-hand side, go to Academics
- On the right-hand side under Registration, click "Request Course Section Prerequisite Override"
- You will need to enter the Academic Period (Spring 2024), course (EDUC 360), and course section at that point should auto populate.
- Click submit. It will give you a box where you can leave a comment. Say something like "I've filled out the 360 request form"
Assessing
Students enrolled in a clinical field placement (excepting students co-enrolled in EDUC 395) will be assessed by their clinical educator and will assess themselves on ten critical dispositions. It is particularly important for students pursuing teacher licensure to become familiar with these critical dispositions and to aspire to grow in these dispositions over the course of their time in our program.
Students will also have the opportunity to evaluate their clinical educators at the end of the semester by completing this form.
