The HPA Student Ambassadors serve as mentors for our first-year and sophomore pre-health students. Students can sign up to be paired with an HPA Ambassador at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. After working as a medical assistant and Arabic medical interpreter at a free clinic that serves hundreds of immigrants and refugees, I realized how important it is for patients to have someone who understands both their language and their culture.

My shadowing and clinical experiences demonstrated how much I wanted to dedicate my life to what I saw other physicians and doctors doing. The ability to connect with patients to create a plan that benefits them was truly incredible and solidified my passion for medicine.

I fell in love with dentistry because not only would I be able to work with my hands and perform procedures, but I'd also get to know patients over time.
