Rhodes students seeking preparation for careers or graduate work in engineering should consider earning Rhodes’ Pre-Engineering certificate. The certificate designation appears on a student’s Rhodes transcript and indicates completion of a set of courses that have been shown to successfully prepare students for various paths in Engineering. To earn the certificate, the student must complete 1) all Rhodes Foundations requirements, 2) major requirements for the chosen major (physics or chemistry), and 3) additional courses as listed below.
At this time, courses are designated for students interested in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, and chemical engineering. For the Pre-Engineering Certificate in mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering, the student must major in physics. To earn the Pre-Engineering Certificate in chemical engineering, the student must major in chemistry.
