In this project students explored the connections between the materials and processes used to create art and the ideas the artwork conveys. Because a foundational element of printmaking is the creation of multiples that strive to recreate identical images, we used block printing as a metaphor for mutation. Each student chose how they would interoperate the concept of “mutation” and based the corresponding imagery off of research on genetic mutation, embryology, and more.
