CARE Team Information

For general student concerns, Rhodes College has a C.A.R.E. (Concern, Assess, Response, and Evaluate) Team. This team convenes regularly to discuss concerning, disruptive, or threatening behaviors. The team is focused on early intervention and prevention of disruption amongst the community. The team seeks to provide support, guidance, other interventions, and/or referral to additional resources. The Dean of Students office can be contacted at 901-843-3815. Report a student concern.

Mel Richey Compassionate Care Fund

This fund was created to assist Rhodes students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or event that would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education at Rhodes. These funds are not intended to be used for routine expenses or as a consistent supplement to a student’s education funding sources. Requests must be urgent in nature and an event or unforeseeable circumstance must have occurred to be eligible for student emergency funds.

Students may apply for funds when they have exhausted all other resources (payment plans, additional student aid, assistance from family/friends, and other personal resources). This funding is not intended to reimburse for expenses that have already been paid or to replace or supplement existing financial aid. More detailed information about the application process and the terms can be found at this link.

Hospitalization Procedure

If hospitalized, Student Outreach & Support aims to assess the student’s needs and support as appropriate in post-hospitalization transition. Please visit Return from a Hospitalization website to learn about the needed steps in returning to campus.

Leave and Return Information

Whether you are contemplating taking some time away from college or returning, SO&S can assist. Please visit our College Leave and Return Process to learn about policies and procedures.

Student Accessibility Services Information

The Director of Student Outreach & Support can also provide assistance in securing necessary academic or housing accommodations for disability needs for students already receiving supportive services.

Rhodes College Red Folder

A “Red Folder" is a resource tool developed to assist faculty, staff, and sometimes students in identifying and responding to students in distress and managing crises. This resource contains guidelines, contact information for campus support services, and procedures to follow when someone is concerned about a student's behavior, well-being, or safety.
