Supporting Diversity

A Message from the Counseling Center about Diversity

The Rhodes Student Counseling Center holds a commitment to working toward a more inclusive campus climate at the center of all we do. We celebrate and respect the diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences of all members of our community. We recognize that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and ableism continue to operate in our daily lives interfering with belonging and wellness. These systems are deeply injurious to all members of our community, and we will continue to devote energy and resources to dismantling these systems until all members of our community feel a true sense of belonging.

To accomplish this, we pledge to engage in continued education, introspection, and collaboration to develop and maintain an anti-racist campus that supports the wellbeing and success of our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students. We pledge to continue to challenge ourselves to learn and grow in best practices in supporting students who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Two Spirit, and the multitude of additional ways that people choose to self-identify (LGBTQI2S+). We welcome support, questions, and conversation about these efforts from members of our community.

Sincerely,

The Rhodes Student Counseling Center Team
