Service & Emotional Support Animals

Rhodes College recognizes the importance of service and emotional support animals to individuals with disabilities and has established the Animals on Campus Policy which outlines requirements and guidelines concerning the presence of such animals on campus.

Students requesting to keep a service or emotional support animal in the residence halls should complete the following steps through the Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS).

  1. Complete the SAS accommodation request process
  2. Submit the Student Acknowledgements Form

Important Dates

Continuing students should complete the SAS accommodation request process by November 15 for spring semester housing, or February 15 for fall semester housing. New students should complete this process by June 15.

Outside of these preferred dates, requests for service and emotional support animals are not accepted unless a new condition has developed for which the animal is required. Residence Life makes housing assignments at the beginning of the year with the animal requests in mind to ensure that an assistance animal does not interfere with other students who may have animal allergies or aversions.
