• Church Health, The Well Intern:  The Well is a wellness and prevention program for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Interns will provide direct and indirect developmentally appropriate support to children, promote a physically and emotionally safe play and learning environment for children, function as a valuable member of a team-focused work environment, and experience diverse opportunities for professional development. All interns must work a minimum of 12 hours a week. Please note that this internship is a nontraditional child life setting and does not satisfy credit through the Child Life Council.

• Dress for Success: Program Volunteer: Assist with the Women N Transformation (WNT) or Professional Women’s Group (PWG) programs. The WNT program, presented by FedEx, includes job preparation and career advancement training. In this program, unemployed and under-employed clients learn job search skills, basic job skills, and build self-confidence. PWG provides clients who have gained employment a place to share, grow, and network with other women who have also made the transition into the workforce. Monthly classes include community professionals that teach basic life and work skills.
• Dress for Success, Volunteer Manager: Assist in managing our volunteer program. Volunteers seek out potential volunteers, establish relationship with current volunteers through constant communication, maintain volunteer database, track and update volunteer hours, match and schedule volunteers for specific opportunities, and maintain volunteer files.

• Freedom Preparatory Academy: Assist in the development and implementation of all aspects of building Freedom Preparatory Academy (a 6 – 12 charter school) including student recruitment, community outreach, event planning, logistics, hiring, and community meetings. • Grameen America, Elevate Intern: Will design and create marketing collateral for Grameen America’s Elevating Black Women Entrepreneurs initiative, deliver direct assistance to Marketing and Communications Team to help deploy strategies to connect with local media contacts, attend weekly Elevate Team Meetings to provide progress reports and updates on outstanding projects.

• JUICE Orange Mound: Our organization is looking for dynamic, energetic interns who are eager to learn about our community-based work and assist our nonprofit in strengthening our existing programming.  Interns will work closely with the Executive Director and team of current resident leaders to organize programming, communicate with residents and community partners, capture data, and evaluate metrics.   

• Just City, Program Intern: supports programs like Court Watch, Clean Slate Fund, Youth Participatory Defense, Memphis Community Bail Fund, etc. This work may include maintenance of respective databases, engagement with those seeking assistance, community outreach, event support, research and other tasks related to the programs.

• Knowledge Quest, Community Connector-Boots on the Ground Intern: This intern will be responsible for researching and outlining the most optimal community engagement/recruitment strategies for South Memphis residents This intern will be responsible for developing and leading current community engagement programs and events including development of basic marketing materials to advertise events. This intern will also be responsible for creating and collecting survey research from community residents in regards to the needs and desires of the community-related to education, community development and food access/farming.

• Knowledge Quest Extended Learning Academy Intern: The Intern will assist with program implementation of youth development, educational enrichment, and recreational activities that support intellectual, emotional, and character development. 

• Knowledge Quest Family Stability Intern: The Intern will assist Family Coaches as they offer assistance to families experiencing crisis related to housing, employment, and other ‘stability’ matters within households such as financial which may lead to the loss of their current place of residence.

• Memphis Area Women’s Council: The Memphis Area Women’s Council offers interns opportunity to participate in planning and carrying out strategic actions to raise community awareness and create community change; carry-out research to bolster and inform action strategies; craft optimum outreach on Council issues using social media and other technology including Powerpoint and web sites and assist with Council events and programs including Run Women Run election training, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes awareness event, WomenTalk periodic open house, Women of Achievement local women's history documentation and annual leadership awards and ongoing advocacy and communication for safety, justice and equity in health, law enforcement, education, wages and workplaces.

• MoSH: The intern selects a research topic within an area of interest- anthropology, botany, geology, history, or zoology for research. The intern is assigned a collection of objects to describe in detail and then produces a "user catalogue" consisting of a background paper and detailed descriptions of the objects. Participates in a field-collecting trip and interacts with the administration, exhibits, and education departments.

• Overton Park Shell, Operations Intern: The Operations Intern will gain major experience in the areas of nonprofit management, operations of the facility, nonprofit policies and procedures, systems management and more. The intern will act in an assistant role to the whole Operations team, and may help with a number of projects such as managing timelines and project deliverables, tracking major work in the facility, editing operational manuals and more.

• Refugee Empowerment Program: Collaborate with REP staff to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that empower resettled refugees and immigrants in Memphis. Options include serving as an assistant in the after-school program or the adult education program; assisting with grant research, writing, and reporting; supporting monitoring and evaluation processes; nonprofit management; marketing and communications; and other projects related to our mission.

• Restore Corps Community Engagement Intern: Reporting to the Community Engagement Coordinator, the intern will assist in developing opportunities to engage community stakeholders and lay people who could impact delivery of services, prevention, and understanding of human trafficking in the 21 counties of West Tennessee. The intern will have tasks and projects having to do with the Education & Training Curriculum, Community Engagement & Events, and Administration, Sustainability, Executive Support. • Room in the Inn – Community Engagement Intern:  Memphis shelters those experiencing homelessness in a safe environment of hospitality. The RITI team strives to build community based on love and respect, welcome all as an expression of faith, and give hope and hospitality in a safe environment. During the months of November - March, Community Engagement Interns are expected to fill at least two 4pm-6pm shifts each week assisting with Congregational Shelter pick-up in downtown Memphis in addition to their ongoing work at Room in the Inn's main campus: 409 Ayers Street. Other main duties: Participate in each RITI program to build relationships with guests, learning common needs and understanding the overall mission and work of RITI. Review current community resource materials within RITI. Interview staff and guests to determine highest priority needs. Research untapped community resources. Determine the limits of local resources and research creative ways RITI can help fill the gaps with volunteers.

• Room in the Inn – Family Inn:  Room in the Inn - Memphis shelters those experiencing homelessness in a safe environment of hospitality. In our Family Inn unsheltered families with children stay in private rooms with 3 meals a day. The staff coordinates available resources and assists with the guests' housing, employment, and other goals.
   
  Our Family Inn shifts are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm with flexible scheduling available. Family Inn Interns work with the Family Inn Director and Guest Advocate to guide guests through their case management plan to achieve the goals of stable childcare, employment, and housing. Some students will also assist with programs (group meetings, afterschool tutoring, or a topic in their interest of benefit to the guests). The Intern is compassionate, and is dedicated in assessing the strengths and needs of those experiencing homelessness with proven ability to build rapport.  The intern will gain exposure to community resources and will have direct client interaction and building relationships.

• Room in the Inn – Volunteer Services:  Participate in each RITI program to build relationships with guests, learning common needs and resources, and understanding the overall mission and work of RITI. Assist in finding creative ways to incorporate volunteers into RITI’s daily life and special project needs.  Monitor Volunteer Odyssey (GivePulse) platform by verifying each new volunteer completes an application, reviews handbook and received appropriate communication in a timely manner.  And other duties as assigned. 

• Shelby County Division of Community Services Outreach Specialist:  This position is responsible for attending marketing and outreach events to increase awareness and utilization of programs within the Division of Community Services (DCS).  

• Stand for Children: Stand TN will have several opportunities for fellows. They will assist in development of modules for the Shelby County Voter Academy. Supporting efforts with our Breaking the School to Prison Pipeline Task Force. Non-partisan voter education and engagement around education and justice issues leading up to the City of Memphis elections in October 2023. Fellows will engage in community outreach and organizing activities. They will also write and have placed an op/ed on a topic related to Stand TN issues. Remote options available.

In addition, a student must complete a short petition, not to exceed 300 words, explaining why you wish to undertake an internship, how it fits with the goals of the Rhodes Vision, and how it will complement your academic study of art; the petition is submitted to the faculty but does not need to be submitted to Career Services. Art 460 qualifies for F11 credit.

• Anna Wunderlich Art Consultation: Intern will work closely with lead art advisor to help clients and designers with art selection and placement, gaining exposure to the practicalities of the art world. Intern will be involved in cataloguing artists and galleries of interest both in a new web-based gallery management software, ArtCloud, and in hard copies for client collections. Intern will also assist with market research through art show and event attendance, help with installations/hanging/framing selection, work on social media initiatives, and coordinate exhibitions.

• At Home Memphis Magazine, Design Intern: Assistant to the editor & graphic designer; Help answer phones and do typical office duties; Help design ads; Shoot various images for entertaining, social, etc. sections; Research various items for graphic designer; Contact various P.R. representatives and request information on products and high resolution photographs; Convert all images from manufacturers to high-res.

• ArtsMemphis, Communications & Development Intern: Helping with community education efforts and arts advocacy. May assist with newsletters; creating and proofing internal correspondence; proofing internal correspondence; proofing printed pieces; assist with mail campaigns to donors, etc.

• Brooks Museum, School Programs Intern:  Under the general direction of the School Programs Coordinator, the school programs intern supports the work of the Brooks Museum’s school programs; assists in program evaluation of the Education programs; maintains art studio space; assists teaching artists in program delivery; and serves as a member of the dynamic Education Department team. This internship is for the Fall Semester and requires 8-10 hours a week (working primarily Wednesday-Friday). The internship is not paid but we will work with the intern’s university to ensure that college credit is given.

• Metal Museum, Archives Intern: Interns will assist the Collections and Exhibitions department in archiving and digitizing the institutional history of the Museum. Interns will be trained in and will use the database management system PastPerfect as they work to make historic records accessible to staff and the public. They will also learn day-to-day museum practices including object handling and will have the opportunity to assist with an exhibition change.

• Metal Museum, Education Intern: Intern will assist the Education and Outreach department with community outreach event, guided tours, and the Museum’s annual fundraiser, Repair Days.

• UrbanArt Commission, Communications Intern: UrbanArt Commission (UAC) is a non-profit organization committed to creating opportunities for artists and neighborhoods to connect and shape spaces through public art. UAC aspires for art to be integral to a thriving and equitable Memphis and has been creating, curating, and building Memphis public art collection for 25 years. What started with one installation has expanded to over 130 public art projects throughout the city. An intern would work closely with the Communications Manager to create content for social media and assist in newsletter writing, donor cultivation, and event planning. Hybrid options.

• Advance Memphis, Salesforce Administrative Intern: The Salesforce Administrative Intern is primarily responsible for the support and implementation of the Salesforce application. This position participates in all phases of the Salesforce application and should be proactive in offering methods to expand on existing knowledge and the leverage of new features.

• BBG, Marketing Intern: Work closely with our top producers on how to identify trends in the marketplace and produce market reports, how to write up comprehensive sales and lease comps and general market data reports., how to publish industry specific reports, including corporate projects and appraisal reviews, how to predict emerging trends by reading local reports, news articles, etc., and how to generate new business in commercial real estate.

• Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Intern: Assist in gathering pertinent data (economic, demographic, industrial, etc.) that is used in marketing the community as well as strategic planning; assist in identifying relevant issues (political, workforces, housing, etc.) that could have an impact on the community; attend selected BACC events. Paid after initial trial period.

• Economic Development Growth Engine Intern (EDGE): Assist with developing presentations for the Economic Development Incentives marketing; utilize spreadsheets, databases and project tracking software to provide up-to-date information and drafts reports for staff and local decision-makers; assist in preparing detailed research and analytical studies of economic, social and statistical data including research and analysis of the financial viability of businesses considering location in Memphis.

• FirstBank Intern: Interns will be exposed to all facets of commercial and retail banking as well as be asked to perform projects and engage in research. Such projects include: financial analysis, demographic research, deal and structure analysis, customer interface, etc. There will be one group project where you will be asked to perform a review of existing federal and state legislation applicable to the commercial banking industry and present formal recommendations for amending the legislation. • Marcus & Millchap, Multifamily Investment Sales Intern:  Intern tasks include providing rent surveys in specific markets. This entails calling apartment complexes and asking for the current rental rates. Providing sale comparable surveys. This provides online research to discover the sale price of multiple properties in a specific market. Create organized and well-maintained file folders in our shared database. There are a lot of documents supplied and created when analyzing an apartment complex so meticulous organization is very important. Analyze and spread property financial statements and rent rolls. This will require specific training that team members will provide along with a training manual for reference. Assist in creating BOVs and OMs. This will require specific training that team members will provide.

• Memphis Public Library and Information Center, Social Media Specialist: The student will work in the Library’s Marketing Department under the guidance and supervision of the Library’s Public Relations Supervisor. Duties will include developing the social media plan, contributing to the development of Library social media policies and procedures, and ultimately launching the Library’s marketing efforts through Twitter. This endeavor requires the student to develop, with supervisor assistance and approval, tweets that promote increased Library customer awareness, knowledge, and participation of and in the Library’s various services and programs. The student also will develop strategies to increase customers’ interaction with the Library’s social media pages.

• Memphis Zoo, Marketing & Public Relations Intern: Perform analysis of marketing and sales data.  Seek and analyze competitor marketing and sales material both on and offline.  Prepare presentations and aide in effective and direct company to client marketing.  Provide support to social media efforts and maintain tracking report of public relations activity.

• Metal Museum, Operations Intern:  The Metal Museum offers a range of internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers related to curation, museum education, marketing, and studio art. Interns will gain professional skills and learn about museum practice. • Memphis Botanic Garden Ecological Landscaping Intern: Intern will work under mentorship of Memphis Botanic Garden Horticulturist Carson Ellis to manage and develop specialty gardens across the 96-acre Memphis Botanic Garden with primary focus on the Anne Heard Stokes Butterfly Garden and Delta Heritage Garden. Intern will be exposed to diverse horticulture approaches, including sustainable agriculture, conservation horticulture, and wildlife habitat management. Work will be hands-on, and primarily outdoors, using a variety techniques and tools. • Memphis & Shelby County Office of Sustainability & Resilience Intern: Our office is seeking an intern to assist with the development of the Mid-South Regional Climate Action Plan. Tasks may include collecting an inputting data into the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, researching best practices/case studies on goals and recommendations to reduce GHG emissions in the metro area, and assisting with logistics for consortium and public meetings, taking notes at meetings, and working on graphics, pictures, layout, etc. for the final plan document. • MoSH LNC Green House Intern:  Lichterman Nature Center is looking for ambitious, dedicated, and passionate individuals looking to gain experience working in a certified arboretum caring for plants and trees. Interns will work in the plant propagation center and the greenhouse assisting staff and volunteers and learning about plants native to the Memphis area, how to propagate them, and assisting with growing hundreds of plants for the annual volunteer plant sale. Interns will work under the supervision of the Plant Propagation Center Curator and Master Gardeners to learn the importance of native trees and how they shape our region. • Room in the Inn – Family Inn:  Room in the Inn - Memphis shelters those experiencing homelessness in a safe environment of hospitality. In our Family Inn unsheltered families with children stay in private rooms with 3 meals a day. The staff coordinates available resources and assists with the guests' housing, employment, and other goals.
   
  Our Family Inn shifts are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm with flexible scheduling available. Family Inn Interns work with the Family Inn Director and Guest Advocate to guide guests through their case management plan to achieve the goals of stable childcare, employment, and housing. Some students will also assist with programs (group meetings, afterschool tutoring, or a topic in their interest of benefit to the guests). The Intern is compassionate, and is dedicated in assessing the strengths and needs of those experiencing homelessness with proven ability to build rapport.  The intern will gain exposure to community resources and will have direct client interaction and building relationships.

• Christ Community Clinical Support Extern: CCHS provides primary healthcare to the underserved through distinctively Christian service. This clinical support internship is ideal for humble students pursuing an advanced degree in the health professions, who also have a heart for the oppressed.  The key objectives of the internship are: 1) learn the practical basics of the medical or dental support role, 2) demonstrate competence with patient intake, including vitals and screening tools, 3) complete a patient-facing improvement/service project.  This externship requires HIPAA training, COVID precautions, drug/background check (upon request), and personal transportation.  Typical locations are the Broad, Hickory Hill, or Raleigh clinics.  Interns are expected to work two shifts per week in clinic (4hrs per shift, either AM or PM) during normal business hours.  Interns will have opportunities to shadow provider-patient encounters and tour clinic neighborhoods. At least one spot per semester is reserved for a student who has experienced extenuating circumstances during their academic journey. Please note: Students must have clear background checks and also be able to sign the affirmation of faith.

• LeBonheur Children′s Medical Center, Pediatrics Intern: Involves rotations through several activities including participation with a team of medical students, residents and physicians on rounds and in staff meetings, rotations through several outpatient clinics and observation of surgical procedures. An effort is made to tailor the activities to interest of individual students. • Memphis Zoo, Animal Husbandry Intern:  Students will be involved in the daily husbandry of the endangered dusky gopher frog and Louisiana pine snake colonies. These colonies are part of ongoing reintroduction programs in which offspring are released back into protected habitat in the spring/summer. Students will be assigned basic husbandry tasks that include cleaning/disinfecting animal enclosures, monitoring water quality and performing necessary water changes, observing animal behavior for signs of illness or stress, etc. Students may also be asked to assist in various research protocols that require safe handling techniques while performing procedures such as ultrasounding, tagging, weight/length measurements, etc.

• Methodist University Hospital Intern (Juniors and Seniors only): Interns will participate in independent patient rounds using a standardized rounding tool. The tool will script questions for patients and family about various aspects of their care and hospital stay. Interns will attend multidisciplinary internal medicine residency conferences as part of their assigned time each week. Interns will be challenged to reflect on their interactions with hospitalized patients and the impact of social determinants on their overall health status.  Further, interns will engage in High Reliability Organization tones and tools to better understand how patient quality and safety is tied to patient experience.

  Designed for pre-med and pre-nursing students, prior shadowing is required. Before starting the internship, students must provide verification of the following: TB skin testing within the last 12 months; proof of MMR vaccination; Varicella titer; proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or executed Hepatitis B statement; proof of influenza vaccination; clear criminal background check (within 12 months) and drug panel (within 30 days). • MoSH LNC Backyard Wildlife Intern:  Lichterman Nature Center is looking for ambitious, dedicated and passionate individuals looking to gain experience caring for and interpreting native animals. Interns work under the supervision of the Backyard Wildlife Curator and Assistant Curator to learn the daily animal care of captive wildlife including mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and fish. Interns will also get the opportunity to design and implement a nature related project and gain knowledge of native plants and animals.

Due to the competitive nature of these opportunities, students who have not completed a medically-related internship will also be given preference in placement given that the priority deadline is met. • Room in the Inn – Recuperative Care Center:  Room in the Inn - Memphis shelters those experiencing homelessness in a safe environment of hospitality. In our Recuperative Care Center unsheltered individuals who are medically fragile and in need of a safe place to recover from illness stay in private rooms with 3 meals a day. The staff coordinates care with medical providers and assists with the guests' housing goals. Opportunities for occupational coaching and counseling as well as physical strengthening are part of the recovery process.  
   
  Our Recuperative Care Center Assistant shifts are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm with flexible scheduling available. RCC Interns work with the RCC Director and Guest Advocate to guide guests through their Care Plan to achieve the goals of recuperation, employment, and housing. Some students will also assist with programs (group meetings, art class, or a topic in their interest of benefit to the guests). • Spay Memphis: Assist staff with general clinic operations including sanitizing kennels, scrubbing surgical instruments, washing laundry, and restocking patient prep stations; prepare patients for surgery, monitor patients under anesthesia, and assist in patient recovery and administer any needed vaccinations and/or medications. A current tetanus shot is required to work hands on with patients.

• Southern College of Optometry Intern: If qualified, the intern will participate in a semester’s worth of shadowing opportunities throughout SCO’s didactic and clinical curriculum.  The purpose of this clerkship is to provide an insight into the criteria for admissions into optometry school, the coursework of a Doctor of Optometry Candidate, and the versatile opportunities within the growing field of Optometry. • Dixon Gallery and Gardens: The Dixon Gallery and Gardens internship will provide the student with an introduction to standard museum practice, providing professional experience and useful skills for future museum employment and further study to the field.  Interns will assist the curator with researching documentation, bibliography and archives related to exhibitions including art, social history, literature and music.

• Facing History and Ourselves: This intern will help pilot Facing History Together at Rhodes College. Facing History Together is a public engagement campaign designed to foster civil discourse and help students understand the fragility of democracy. Additionally, Facing History Together Rhodes will build a community of college students who are passionate about social justice, education, equality, and equity. The student intern will: help with the formation and promotion of the Facing History Together group on campus, garner the support of campus stakeholders, assist in identifying Facing History alumni on campus, organize logistics for events and publicize meetings, and collaborate with Facing History staff to implement strategic initiative and assist with administrative duties.

• Memphis Heritage: Assist with the many preservation activities of this non-profit educational and charitable organization. Examples of projects may include: writing for The Keystone (a publication that serves as the voice of the Memphis Preservation Community); assisting with the MHI Annual Preservation Awards; assisting with the Architectural Auction; assisting with the Annual Preservation Series (an educational series encompassing topics of Memphis historic architecture and neighborhoods).

• Memphis/Shelby County Public Libraries: The internship provides training in processing manuscript collections (analyzing and organizing materials, preservation of material, and preparation of a computer-generated guide to the collection). At the end of the semester, the intern′s project will be bound and entered in the Library′s catalog, providing a permanent record of the student′s work.

• Metal Museum, Archives Intern: Interns will assist the Collections and Exhibitions department in archiving and digitizing the institutional history of the Museum. Interns will be trained in and will use the database management system PastPerfect as they work to make historic records accessible to staff and the public. They will also learn day-to-day museum practices including object handling and will have the opportunity to assist with an exhibition change.

• MoSH: The intern selects a research topic within an area of interest for research. The intern is assigned a collection of objects to describe in detail. The intern is then requested to produce a "user catalogue" consisting of a background paper and detailed descriptions of the objects. The intern is also encouraged to participate in a field-collecting trip and to interact with the administration, exhibits, and education departments.
• Shelby County Archives: The Shelby County Archives protects, preserves, and provides public access to the permanent historical records of Shelby County Government. Interns will work on processing records, particularly those of the Shelby County Chancery Court during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Processing includes humidification, flattening, foldering, indexing, and boxing of the records, so as to increase their accessibility to researchers. Chancery Court deals with cases of equity, which often involves private property, commercial property, estates, and possibly slaves.
• Shelby County Attorney’s Office: The intern will be shadowing attorneys to scheduled court hearings and accompany an attorney to different selected Board and Committee Meetings. They will also assist attorneys in preparing discovery, filing pleadings, special projects, research etc. The intern is responsible for submitting a white paper at the end of the internship. • Advocates for Immigrant Rights Intern: Interns will be exposed to a variety of areas with a primary focus on immigration law and process.  Interns will provide clerical assistance, translate documents, and research specific questions of law and policy related to immigration.  

• English Law: Interns will observe Family Law practiced by the attorney in various courts in Shelby County. Interns will have the opportunity to learn legal document creation and billing management software for law firms. Responsibilities include legal research, assisting in physical case file creation, and various office tasks.

• FedEx, Regulatory Public Affairs and Communications Intern: International projects with all of FedEx global locations. Assignments will require data analysis and recommendations for the respective projects including international business research. Current projects are related to US Department of Commerce and selling strategies between the US, Europe, and Asia. • A Way Out, Graphic & Film Design Internship:  A Way Out (AWO) has been combatting pornography and human trafficking for 30 years in the Mid-South region. We have a two-year residential program for women who have been trapped in the sex industry (sex trafficking) and also conduct outreach to venues known for sexual exploitation twice per month. Lastly, we advocate at the state and local level for policy and laws to regulate human trafficking and pornography. The ministry currently owns one safe home (called Agape House) with the capacity to house five (5) sex trafficking survivors while they are in the residential program. The program will expand to include a rural location being built on over 75 acres where women will complete Phase Two of the program. The Graphic and Film Design Intern will be responsible for producing, filming, and editing an 8-10 minute powerful video that will be shown at AWO’s annual fundraising gala. In addition, the intern(s) will create: short 1-minute social media videos; graphics for social media; and an annual report.

• St. Jude Quality of Life/Palliative Care Intern: The Quality of Life/Palliative Care internship will provide a qualified Senior exposure to palliative, end-of-life and bereavement care for patients and families at St. Jude.  The intern will work with the bereavement coordinator, a psychologist on the Quality of Life team, and will have the opportunity to interface with pediatric palliative care practitioners and to work collaboratively with multiple departments. • Memphis & Shelby County Office of Sustainability & Resilience Intern: Our office is seeking an intern to assist with the development of the Mid-South Regional Climate Action Plan. Tasks may include collecting an inputting data into the greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, researching best practices/case studies on goals and recommendations to reduce GHG emissions in the metro area, and assisting with logistics for consortium and public meetings, taking notes at meetings, and working on graphics, pictures, layout, etc. for the final plan document. • Memphis River Parks Intern: The Memphis River Parks Partnership considers the riverfront as a series of connected and complementary parks and facilities. Just as the parks connect to one another, so should the riverfront connect with ­­­downtown and underinvested neighborhoods adjacent to downtown. The partnership seeks to encourage the flow of people between downtown and the riverfront and to better connect with MLK Park, South Memphis and Uptown. Connection could be physical infrastructure, or programming that builds ownership, stewardship or expands opportunity. (NPI) Intern: Intern will assist neighborhood innovation work, working alongside existing community partners to implement national best practices at the local level.  The intern will conduct regular windshield surveys to monitor property conditions, research best practices and design process implementation plans, and help develop internal systems to scale up neighborhood innovation work.

• Refugee Empowerment Program Intern: Collaborate with REP staff to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services that empower resettled refugees and immigrants in Memphis. Options include serving as an assistant in the after-school program or the adult education program; assisting with grant research, writing, and reporting; supporting monitoring and evaluation processes; nonprofit management; marketing and communications; and other projects related to our mission.

• River Front Development Corporation, Recreational Programming Intern: The Recreational Programming Intern will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of activities and events for youth and adults. In addition, submitting content for the Riverfront Development Corporation’s (RDC) traditional and social media outlets is required. The RITI team strives to build community based on love and respect, welcome all as an expression of faith, and give hope and hospitality in a safe environment. Interns should enter their first day with an openness to becoming a part of this community, treating guests with dignity and responding to challenges with a focus on hospitality.  Main duties divided among Community Engagement Interns include:  Reviewing current community resources materials, interviewing staff and guests to determine needs, researching untapped community resources, creating a database of community resources, assist in recruiting and training volunteers, as well as other duties as assigned.

• Room in the Inn – Family Inn:  Room in the Inn - Memphis shelters those experiencing homelessness in a safe environment of hospitality. In our Family Inn unsheltered families with children stay in private rooms with 3 meals a day. The staff coordinates available resources and assists with the guests' housing, employment, and other goals.
   
  Our Family Inn shifts are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm with flexible scheduling available. Family Inn Interns work with the Family Inn Director and Guest Advocate to guide guests through their case management plan to achieve the goals of stable childcare, employment, and housing. Some students will also assist with programs (group meetings, afterschool tutoring, or a topic in their interest of benefit to the guests). The Intern is compassionate, and is dedicated in assessing the strengths and needs of those experiencing homelessness with proven ability to build rapport.  The intern will gain exposure to community resources and will have direct client interaction and building relationships.

• True Story Pictures, Communications Intern: Reframe the “resources” section of our website to speak to national audiences. Add, update, and manage listings for national, regional, state, and local agencies, providers, and nonprofit organizations that work in the context of juvenile justice, youth and families, and criminal justice reform. Work with partners like the National Juvenile Justice Network to identify gaps within regions of particular interest. Transcribe audio interviews with individuals who’ve had personal contact with the juvenile justice system. Post interviews and photos in the “stories” section of website. Provide outreach coordination and scheduling support to individuals who want to record their stories. Manage social media content. • United Housing, Inc. (UHI) Housing Development Intern: Work with a nonprofit affordable housing agency that serves the City of Memphis and Shelby County Tennessee. United Housing targets its services to families who are underserved by the traditional home ownership industry. United Housing works to support the revitalization of Memphis neighborhoods through the provision of construction services, home buyer education and counseling and affordable lending products to low-to-moderate income, first-time home buyers.

• UrbanArt Commission Intern: The mission of UAC is to enhance and elevate the quality of life in Memphis and Shelby County by promoting and facilitating public art and urban design. Responsibilities include administrative duties, assisting in reach and development projects, and supporting advocacy efforts.
