Mertie Buckman International Internship Program (International Studies)
The Mertie Buckman International Internship Program allows for high-achieving International Studies majors to work as an intern abroad over the summer. Students are funded for their accommodations, work, and travel within the country/region of their choice for the summer. Past Mertie Buckman Interns have traveled to South Africa, Morocco, Ireland, Spain, Japan, and Argentina. To read about student experiences, check out the Mertie Buckman Brochure.

The Morelle Legg International Internship
This scholarship is awarded to a junior majoring in the Department of Business or the Department of Economics to allow the student to obtain work experience in a foreign country during the summer following his/her junior year. The selection committee considers factors such as overall and major grade point average, completion of relevant business courses, and language skills in evaluating candidates. This is a merit-based scholarship funded by an anonymous donor. In the summer of 2024 Adeline Carroll interned in Valencia, Spain.
The Theodore William Eckels International Business Internships
This scholarship is awarded annually to several outstanding sophomore or junior students in the Department of Business or the Department of Economics to allow the students to obtain work experience in a foreign country during the summer. The selection committee considers factors such as overall and major grade point average, completion of relevant business courses (international business track courses), and language skills in evaluating candidates. This is a merit-based scholarship named in honor of business leader Theodore Williams Eckels. During the summer of 2024, Madison Sample interned in Dublin, Ireland; Gaarison Holran interned in London, England; Madelyn Bertsch and JM Simms interned in Costa Rica; Max Milburn interned in Valencia, Spain; William Trotman interned in Barcelona, Spain; and Abby McLean interned in Prague, Czech Republic. The Wafsky Iskander International Internship
This scholarship is awarded every one to two years to an outstanding sophomore or junior student in the Department of Economics to allow the student an opportunity to gain work experience in a foreign country during the summer. The selection committee considers factors such as overall and major grade point average, completion of relevant business courses (international business track courses), and language skills in evaluating candidates. This is a merit-based scholarship named in honor of Economics Professor Wasfy Iskander who taught at Rhodes from 1969-2000. During the summer of 2024, Jackson Raymark interned in Dublin, Ireland.

Theodore William Eckels International Practicum for Art & Art History
This newly established internship will be awarded annually to outstanding sophomore or junior students with a 3.0+ GPA (overall and major) and a declared major or minor in either Art or Art History. This award allows students to work abroad for eight weeks during the summer. The internship will cover the cost of airfare and accommodations while living abroad. This is a merit-based scholarship named in honor of business leader Theodore William Eckels to advance the Rhodes Vision to graduate students with a passion for lifelong learning, compassion for others, and the ability to translate academic study and personal concern into effective leadership and action in their communities around the world.
