COBRA

In compliance with the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) the College allows participants in the Health, Dental, and FSA plans to continue participation after a loss of coverage.

If you lose coverage due to termination or a reduction in working hours you will be offered coverage under COBRA for up to 18 months. An additional 11 months can be given if you are determined to be disabled by the Social Security Administration at the time you lose coverage, or within 60 days of losing coverage.

Your dependents can continue coverage if they lose it due to your death, divorce, or their reaching the age limits of the plan. They will be offered COBRA coverage for up to 36 months for this type of qualifying event. It is the employee’s responsibility to notify the College within 60 days of a divorce or a child reaching the limiting age.

Individuals who elect to continue coverage under COBRA must pay 100% of the total premium plus an administration fee.
